The sculptor was responding to the recent hideous painting over of Ratu Sir Lala Sukuna's statue from Bronze into BLUE that stands outside Parliament in Suva. The famous sculptor JOHN DOUBLEDAY to Fijileaks Founding Editor-in-Chief (3 November 2020): 'Dear Victor, After I had done a portrait of the then Prime Minister Ratu Sir Kamasese Mara, the maquette was submitted in Fiji and the work carried out in my studio in Essex. It was cast at the Art Bronze Foundry in London, shipped to Fiji, installed by me in time for the Queen's Silver Jubilee tour in 1977. Attached is the photograph of the work in progress in my studio. "Dear Victor, Although it is not what I would recommend, the Government is entitled to do what they wish...I may have my view but this is something that needs to be sorted out in Fiji (We had pointed out that the painting over of the statue in blue is widely detested, judging by social media, and obviously native Fijians think it is an assault on them)'

We wonder if the MINISTER FOR EVERYTHING who wanted to change our Fiji Flag to PLEASE his Father had CONSULTED the Ratu Sir Lala Sukuna Family before PAINTING the Statue BLUE. We can argue with HIM until we're BLUE IN THE FACE but he will refuse to listen. Remember he has scrapped the Ratu Sir Lala Sukuna Day and replaced it with his 2013 CONSTITUTION DAY.
